On March 8, 2010, Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), has invited almost 30 federal agencies to participate in a job fair. A few of the agencies include: the Defense Intelligence Agency, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Internal Revenue Service, National Security Agency, Social Security Administration, U.S. Air Force, International Trade Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, Department of State, and the Secret Service.
The fair will take place in Fredericksburg, VA, at the University of Mary Washington - Stafford Campus (College of Graduate and Professional Studies), between 9:00AM and 4:00PM. The event is free but registration is recommended. Please check the senator's site here for a full list of participating agencies and directions to the fair.
UPDATE: I called the senator's office this morning (Washington office - 202. 224.-2023). My understanding is that the agencies will not conduct direct hiring at the fair; instead, they will provide information on current job openings in their respective agencies. Some will accept applications.
Should law students attend? If Fredericksburg is within reasonable driving distance, I think it would be worth it. If anything, students and graduates can learn about the work of the various agencies and ask questions about quasi-legal jobs and career tracks for legally-trained personnel.
