Each year, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) offers third year law students the opportunity to apply for a post-graduate two-year Honors Attorney Program. In past years, the application period for the program has been between June 1 and September 30.The FDIC also accepts applications from first- and second-year students for summer internship positions.
Attorneys at the FDIC work on a broad cross-section of issues and practice areas including banking regulatory matters, litigation and bank receivership, and corporate law. During the first year of the program, Honors Attorneys participate in three-month rotations through various Legal Division sections at the headquarters office and one rotation to one of the corporation's field locations in Boston, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas or San Francisco. During their second year, Honors Attorneys receive long-term assignments to one of the corporation's sections.
On April 1, 2010, in WB 105, at 12:00PM, two FDIC attorneys - Jason Fincke and Pratin Vallabhaneni - will give a presentation on career opportunities at the FDIC. The attorneys will discuss the two-year Honors Program for rising 3Ls (Class of 2011) (and outgoing judicial law clerks) and the corporation's summer internship program for rising 2Ls (Class of 2012). They will also address other points of entry into the FDIC. I strongly encourage students considering careers in banking, consumer protection, and corporate law to attend this presentation.
